Detroit is a global city of design and creativity. This has been true for over a century, and its designation as the first and only UNESCO City of Design in the United States confirms that it will continue to be an important part of our city’s future identity. Join Design Core Detroit as we showcase the work of our City of Design partners who are activating the Detroit City of Design Action Plan through projects that advance the practice of inclusive design.
At 7pm enjoy a panel discussion by winners of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum’s National Design Awards. The National Design Awards is the museum’s largest and most prominent education program, broadening access nationwide to the vision and work of the country’s design leaders and inspiring people of all ages to engage with design and design thinking. As part of the National Design Awards, Cooper Hewitt travels to three cities each year, connecting winners, past and present, to local communities.
