MoGo Celebrates ADA Day!
“July 26, 2017 marks the 27th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA has helped to provide equal opportunity, independent living, integration, and economic self-sufficiency for disabled individuals.
At MoGo, we are working with our friends at Programs to Educate All Cyclists (PEAC) to support that pledge through an Adaptive Bike Share pilot program. This pilot program will provide biking opportunities for anyone who is unable to ride a two-wheeled bicycle. PEAC has been empowering individuals with disabilities through cycling and active transportation since 2004.
In honor of ADA day, we’d like to introduce you to a PEAC advocate named James. James has been riding his bike since he was 9 years old. At the time, he desired independence so he got involved with PEAC to learn to ride a bike. He is now 26 years old and loves to use his bike to get around town. James says his bike is part of his transportation and he uses it to get to work, hang out with friends, and to get from place to place. Because of James’ disability, he is unable to drive so the bike is an important way for him to be mobile.”
